My love for scrapbooking started long before I even realized. Capturing special moments on film added to the excitement joining my first class on that late autumn afternoon and believe me a very nervous adventure awaited me. Approximately 8 years ago I decided to leave my job after the opportunity presented itself in order for me to open my own shop. What an amazing but very time consuming venture.
My obsession with Dolphins gave birth to my company name – White Dolphin Scrapbooking. 4 Years after opening the store I decided to close down and rediscovered the reason for loving this hobby. The last mentioned was driven by the love for my family and the importance of spending more time with my children, it reignited the passion inside.
I’m inspired by my family! They provide the creative spark in me. The time we spend, the stuff we do together, the laughter we share… all of them inspire me to record them down so that I can reflect and cherish the time we spend together in later years.
Every time I look at an old photo, I always wonder what the picture is about, what people on the photo might have thought, if it was an everyday or special moment, etc. So I’d like to document my memories and photo in this way, via scrapbooking. It is not just a hobby; it is a lifestyle, a way of thinking for me.
As paper crafting and collecting ”memories” formed part of my life the journey of creative scrapbooking by teaching others opened an entire new world. I redirected my focus walking the classroom floor, co-operating a galaxy of ideas and experience into self-created kits.
I have learnt the primary purpose of scrapbooking is to preserve memories for future generations, but a secondary purpose often is to exercise your creativity as you display your memories in a scrapbook. The creative art of taking books with blank pages and adding photos, memorabilia, journaling and embellishments.
My favorite, favorite product to use has to be paper. I love paper and I can never use enough paper and paper layering on a layout. My favorite ranges are KaiserCraft, BoBunny, Prima Marketing and Simple Stories. I have to have the most recent collections from these ranges, no matter what! I also love using ribbon, lace, net and different texture fabrics.
Overall no matter what I put my whole heart into making a layout, whether it is for myself, doing a class or kits for the public.
